Cook delicious meals outdoors with the right outdoor pots!

Camping pot

The various stove systems for outdoor use are so versatile that one could build a new branch of science out of them. The whole thing does not get any easier, when one also views the broad spectrum of pots and pot sets, which are all competing to be used.
The following overview should help in selecting the right outdoor pots for each purpose, so that cooking - for whatever purpose - becomes even more enjoyable!

Materials for Outdoor pots

There are pots of aluminum, stainless steel and titanium. These also have variations such as coated and uncoated pots. First, a look at the basic materials.
Stainless steel is the durable classic amongst pots. The material is extremely stable, distributes heat evenly and can be properly cleaned. For most trekkers, the drawback is the relatively high weight.
There is aluminum as an alternative. Aluminum pots are considerably lighter than stainless steel pots, but do not offer the same level of torsion resistance i.e. they get dented more quickly. Aluminum pots conduct heat very effectively (one thus needs less fuel), but tend to let things burn quickly, if one is not careful enough, cleaning them thus takes a bit more effort.
There are also titanium pots for enthusiasts. They are more stable than stainless steel but lighter than aluminum, thus having a higher price. Whoever is on the road a lot and pays attention to the weight of their gear, should keep titanium pots as an option.
In addition to the base materials, aluminum pots are mostly coated. The non-stick coating reduces the pots' tendency to let things burn and makes it considerably easier to clean them. As a result, coated aluminum pots are a hit among outdoor enthusiasts due to the weight, the good heat-conducting properties, and the price-performance ratio.

Extras

Apart from the materials, one should take note of the size and whether the pots are also available in a set. Extras such as handles and dimensions are helpful in practice!
