Only partial insulation

I was looking for insulated shorts for sleeping on a camping (under tent). There a lot of such shorts, but majority of them are for skiers, so they have zippers on sides -- I wanted to avoid this because it adds weights without any advantage. I found those shorts, Scott Insuloft and Specialized. All three of them do not have any zipper (not on sides, not in front -- awesome). Since Specialized is harder to buy and their shorts have some kind of belt with buckle, I opted for Odlo and Scott because they use cord (it is more packable). I didn't test any of them, but Odlo was no-brainer for return. While Scott is fully insulated (except of the inseam) Odlo shorts are only insulated in front, the back is thicker material without any insulation. It can work well probably as inner shorts for cycling, when you sit and compress the back of the shorts. But for my purpose they are no use. Pity, because Odlo at least provided color options, while Scott is dead black. I am around 91 cm in waist, size XL was way too loose (this is also true for Scott in my case), with all stickers and plastic wrap, the weight is 240g (while Scott XL is 265g). The star score does not reflect anything, in order to write review I was forced to give some score.
