Hello, I want to buy a pair of Kataki's but I have to choose between 39,5 and 40. My street shoes are usually 41 (I measure about 26.5 cm) and I have Egiptian toes. I have a nedium width foot. This will be my first performance shoes, I have climbed Simond 40 (25.5 cm)until now. I do not have where to try, so I have to buy online. I tried LS Finale 39 and was too tight. Katana 40 was ok at toes but at the heal there remained some space, it also was very unconfortable there and made noises when I walked and it . Miura lace 39.5 was made toe-nuckle but I could stay 20 min without any pain, but it was too large at toes. I know it's difficult to give advice about sizing but maybe you can help a little bit. My level is about 6+ and I climb more outdoor. Thanks.
Hi Doina,
like you said, size advice is a bit tricky, but here we go. As the Kataki is built on the same last as the Katana, but with less volume overall, you should go by the size you would take in the Katana, in your case 40. The space issues you had in the Katana could be resolved here through the tighter fit in the Kataki. I hope this is helpful.
Best, Erik
Love these shoes. Great in edging, aggressive enough for harder climbs. Using shoe-size mostly because one foot is slightly bigger than other, otherwise it would be very uncomfortable on the achilles tendon. Doesn't sweat much and good ventilation. Laces help adjust tightness as needed. Very good fit, almost like a second skin on the foot.
