I love the fit of Salewa - the man trainer and alp trainer are snug in the heel and mid foot, but leave space for toes to spread. You feel totally secure but also able to feel normally and spread the toes. The man trainer is a pretty stiff sole (in both boot and shoe) so I'd not really for casual use, and not padded like a running shoe. You feel the ground but are protected from it. This means it's great in rough stuff - both softer hills and earth but also rocky. There's a bit of rocker in the sole - enough to make walking on roads ok - but I wouldn't wear this for road walking, I'd go for something with more padding and rocker or a softer flicker sole. As the work "moutnain" suggests - it's the perfect kits for walking in the mountains - without being a full on climbing boot.

I've had these for two weeks now and, so far, have used them as everyday shoes. They do need some breaking in and I'm not sure about the tongue system but I'm confident they will be great for an upcoming holiday in northern Pakistan and would/will recommend them. The Vibram soles seem more robust than some soles I've recently experienced. I would give them 9/10 if that were possible.
