amfori BSCI

amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) is an internationally recognised system for the improvement of working conditions in global supply chains. It applies to companies that manufacture or distribute textiles and other products. It is based on a code of conduct with 11 principles that are aligned with international agreements such as the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). These include the prohibition of child and forced labour, safe and healthy working conditions, reasonable working hours, the right to freedom of association as well as measures against discrimination. It also requires the payment of statutory minimum wages with the aim of gradually moving towards living wages. Companies commit to introducing a risk management system and implementing continuous improvements. Compliance is verified by independent audits at production sites, which are repeated on a regular basis. More information is available on the official amfori BSCI website: amfori.
