ZQ Merino

ZQ Merino is an international standard for merino wool that sets requirements for animal welfare, environmental responsibility, social aspects and traceability. It applies to clothing, home textiles, accessories, fibres, yarns and fabrics made from merino wool. The criteria include compliance with the ‘Five Freedoms’ of animal welfare, including the prohibition of mulesing, access to food and water and protection from pain and stress. In addition, farms must implement measures to protect soil, water and biodiversity. Fair working conditions and health protection requirements apply throughout the supply chain. Every product is traceable back to the farm to ensure transparency for consumers. Compliance with these requirements is verified by independent audits.
