We bought the Homestead and the Low Cot, assembled both then tried with and without a self-inflating mat or our side, front and back. We unanimously voted for the Low Cot despite is being £35 more (also lighter and in a smaller bag) despite is taking 8 minutes longer to assemble than the Homestead (10 mins versus 2 mins). A few other comments: 1) the total floor contact surface area on the floor of the Homestead is at least three times more - a consideration if camping on rougher ground that could damage the tent floor and/or groundsheet. 2) The Low Cot is higher and with fewer legs so the potential to store more under it
