If you’re looking for a backpack for mixed alpine climbing and expeditions, then the Serac 40 from Exped is the way to go. Thanks to the tear-resistant and waterproof RIPSTOP outer material, the backpack is great for any season and any weather. Plus, PFC-free materials were used, which is better for the environment.

There are various attachment options on the outside of the backpack to attach your ice tools, skis and other climbing equipment. Plus, you can keep your skins handy in the spacious front zip pocket. You can access your luggage in the main compartment either from the top via the roll-top closure or the side zip. If you get thirsty in the middle of the via ferrata, that won’t be a problem with the Serac 40 since it has an opening for a hydration system.

Compact carrying experience

The removable compression straps on the rolltop and sides allow you to pack the Serac 40 compactly so that it does not hinder your movement. The carrying system is customisable with a height-adjustable sternum strap and removable hip belt.  It’s completed by a whistle that’s built into the sternum strap for emergency situations.
