After 2 months of use.
I use this coat to replace a £10 loden jacket from eBay. I started using it in -2 to -5 conditions, with snow and wind. The wind went straight through making it cooler than the jacket, an hour in light rain, saturated the coat, and starts coming through at the seams. On the plus side, it seemed to dry quickly.
This is a neat fitting, stylishly cut parka, that looks cool ( so says my wife). It has a hood that lays flat (pancake) and fits well, leaving some peripheral vision. Great for around town on cool days, or nights.
I wouldn't want to wear it in the hills on cold, windy, wet days, or nights. It's heavy wool, and would fill a day pack on it's own.
I use it for dog walking in all weathers, where I'm out for about an hour, and not to worried about the wet getting through, and it's fine. I would wear it to the city, or day trip with a car. It's lack of a lining ( and at this price you might expect it ) makes it susceptible to wind chill, it's bulky if your not wearing, heavy to carry especially when wet, and doesn't keep the rain out.
But it does look cool! But functional less useful than a good loden jacket.
