Hi Joe,

Patagonia state the following:

"These lightweight, packable and fully waterproof MTB-specific riding pants repel rain, snow, wet underbrush and frigid temps, while also breathing and stretching enough to keep you pedaling through the next storm."

Basically , these are an overtrouser.
