Fit for purpose
These Silent Spike Pads are a good intermediate pad, between the normal pole tips and the plain rubber pads (which I also have) that are for paved surfaces. They seem to be perfect for compacted dirt trails with some loose surface and also for paved surfaces when you don't need to use the normal tips or the plain rubber pads. They are a bit expensive but if they last a reasonable amount of time and prevent wearing out the normal tips, which are even more expensive, then I think they are a useful addition to your trekking gear.
