Product description

Modern crampons for true Alpine Trekkers

With the Air Tech Bergfreunde Edition 12-point crampons from Grivel, you are well prepared for mixed terrain on your way to the summit! This crampon is designed for mountaineering and simple ice climbing. With its 12 points, the Air Tech gives you maximum grip on frozen surfaces. The additional third pair of points is particularly useful for crossing ice passages. The fourth pair of points (counted from front to back) is double-angled to provide you with a better grip when descending.

Customisable

In order to fit your shoe size, the length of the Air Tech can be customized quickly and with no trouble. The integrated anti-balling plates keep snow from accumulating underneath the crampon. Moreover, the Bergfreunde edition of Grivel’s Air Tech stands out for its genuine and stylish design.

Information about the binding systems:

  • Cramp-O-Matic is a heel lever for crampon-compatible boots (sole edge on the front and rear)
  • New Matic is made of a heel lever on the rear and plastic cups on the front for partly crampon-compatible shoes (sole rim on rear)
  • New Classic is made of plastic straps suitable for all types of mountaineering and trekking shoes (no sole rim required)

Are they any good at front pointing on solid steep ice?

Hi Tom, they'd be ok up to about grade 3 but beyond that the front points aren't steeply angled enough to be honest. For steeper ice you want G14's.
