Reviews overview
Advantages
This is what other customers say:
Takes a bit of time to get used to, but it does the two main tricks that it is supposed to perform: pulling yourself closer to the anchor is smooth (assuming you have a foothold), and importantly, releasing under tension works well too. I am happy with the product.
The eye on the end that connects to belay loop is just minimal size, if you want to use a very large carabiner, it will be tricky to get it attached or unattached. But once on, it stays on tight.

Got this after owning the (old) Connect Adjust, Camp Swing and Kong Slyde over the years. I also worked in a climbing shop so I had the chance to use several others from the major brands. I believe the Sbea achieves the best balance of features of any personal lanyard.
First, the competition. Connect Adjust sits sideways in a small carabiner (Sm'd Twistlock) with a chunky gate a necessity to stop it rotating, and a rubber stopper. All this makes it feel bulky - it adds clutter to busy anchor points, difficult to take on and off. Sometimes it ends up jammed tightly against the rock. When this happens it can even release unexpectedly, this happened to me while on a hanging belay once. They haven't fixed this fundamental issue with the new Connect either. Beal's Espresso Fit has the same drawbacks as the Connect Adjust.
Camp swing, and Slyde can use any locking carabiner but are VERY stiff to extend. Swing can be released under tension, that at least works well.
Edelrid Switch is nice and long (120cm) but an extra bulky sideways device and expensive
The Sbea Adjust is a great balance of everything. It is much smoother than the original Connect and 5cm longer. I use it with the Edelrid Strike Slider FG. The whole assembly is so fast and easy to clip to wherever. The way the device sits on the carabiner makes for a slim profile, low, well out of the way of the cluster of things at the anchor. It is also easy to release under load - no need to have thread hanging off anything, no hooking a quickdraw on to it. Just push the lever up with your thumb and smoothly lower yourself; doesn't suddenly drop you like other solutions to this problem.
In defence of the new Connect, it is very slightly smoother than the Sbea, and has the nice sling for the cow's tail end. The Sbea can feel stiffer to shorten, but shortening is always done after clipping to the anchor, so you are safe by that point anyway. Extending is where a device HAS to be smooth to be nice to use, as it can be the difference between having the energy to clip and not.
For me the Sbea is by far my preferred device.
