Selle Italia bike saddles born out of tradition.

Selle Italia Bike Saddles

The company has been producing bicycle saddles since 1897 and has focused on sports models since the 1970s. The SLR and Flite series are especially popular and new editions have been and continue to be released onto the market, for a number of decades now.
Another highlight of the Selle Italia collection are special editions like the annual Giro d'Italia special edition.

Selle Italia as a sponsor

As befits any reputable sports clothing manufacturer, Selle Italia also gets involved in promoting sport. The Italians have been sponsoring reputable professional cycling teams with equipment for many years. It's not for nothing that one of the first special editions from Selle Italia, the Turbo Bernard Hinault model, was named after the Tour de France winner of 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1985. Other sportsmen to put their trust in Selle Italia's Bike Saddles over the course of their career include well-known names Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Marco Pantani and Miguel Indurain.
As well as the giant, well-known teams, Selle Italia also supports smaller teams and a whole host of well-known mountain bikers and triathletes.

How do I find the right Selle Italia saddle?

Bike saddles should never be chosen on the basis of criteria such as: "nice color", "it's cheap" or "it's included in the price of the whole bike". Cycle tours of any length are no fun without a well-fitting bike saddle, no matter how expensive the rest of the equipment is. The width of the saddle is an especially important factor. This has to fit the gap between your ischium bones. Other important criteria include the mobility of your hips and, of course, the time that you spend in the saddle. If you don't cycle very often, you won't have much joy with a hard, ultra-lightweight sports saddle. That's why Selle Italia provides a description with every bike saddle explaining which type of cyclist it's best suited for.
