Product description
The ATC Guide Alpine is Black Diamond's compact and even lighter solution for fast & light alpinists. Weighing in at just 73 grams, the 2019 edition weighs even less than the already lightweight ATC Guide. Regardless of whether you’re belaying seconds, lowering or abseiling, the ATC Guide Alpine has got you covered. The oval geometry makes it easier to take in and pay out rope. The mandatory braking grooves provide great hold and stopping power. Optimised for ropes with a diameter of 8.1 to 8.5mm, the ATC Guide Alpine can handle really thin half and twin ropes, if necessary. Black Diamond indicates a range of 6.9 to 9mm in diameter. Anyone who climbs alpine trad and multi-pitch routes will certainly appreciate the ATC Guide Alpine’s guide mode, which lets you belay one or two seconding climbers off an anchor. You can use the eye hole on the body of the belay device to release the blocking of the rope, which can be useful when lowering a follower. If you’re in the market for a super-light, universal belay/rappel device, you should definitely have a closer look at the new and improved ATC Guide!
