Product description
Semi-auto locking belay device with anti-panic function
The GriGri + from Petzl is the perfect belay device - and not just for beginner climbers! This belay device is compatible with all ropes between 8.5 and 11 mm (with an optimum range of use between 8.9 - 10.5 mm) and features an assisted breaking function, making it a semi-automatic belay device. This means that in the event of a fall, your brake hand on the rope (regardless of the angle of the incoming rope) has some of the strain taken away by a clamping mechanism. This not only saves hand strength, but also guarantees maximum comfort while belaying.
The stable handle of the GriGri + allows precise control of the rope release, enabling comfortable lowering as well as smooth abseiling. Thanks to the reinforcing stainless steel plate on the brake mechanism, the belay device is additionally protected against excessive wear - particularly durable and perfect for anyone who climbs frequently.
The fact that the GriGri + is especially suitable for climbing beginners as well as course instructors is shown by its clever functions. For example, the unit has an anti-panic function which completely blocks the rope if you accidentally pull the release lever all the way through. In addition, climbers who frequently switch between top-rope and lead belay can select the corresponding mode for both belay types. In addition, there is a lockable adjustment mechanism (especially interesting for course instructors), with which the sensitivity of the GriGri + can be adjusted via a small spring inside, at which point it 'closes'. This small but fine detail makes it easier to feed in the rope in top-rope mode, while in lead climbing it is quicker and easier to pay out the rope.
Whether you're a beginner who climbs a lot in the toprope or an advanced climber who likes to climb the most difficult routes - the GriGri + from Petzl is a well thought-out belay device that is perfectly adapted to the needs of sport climbers and knows how to convince with clever details!

- Semi-automatic with assisted-braking function
- Suitable for all ropes between 8.5 and 11 mm

The safest option for belaying, but quite heavy compared to a tubular belaying device.

Have been using it for a year and a half now, still no heavy signs of usage. Do use it a few times a week.
I still like an ATC guide better for sport climbing.
too heavy for alpine use
