Product description

An ultra-lightweight, high performance trekking rucksack that'll make your eyes light right up: the Osprey Levity 45! And rightfully so! It's not every day you find a 45-litre pack that weighs as little as 805 grams, especially since it boasts an array of cool features you'd never expect from a pack this light. These features include the AirSpeed suspended mesh back system, the padded ergonomic shoulder straps and padded hip belt. All this helps to distribute the weight evenly while keeping the back cool on hot days. Another feature of note is the InsideOut compression system, which will help to keep the contents secure while maintaining an even distribution of the weight. This makes it much easier to carry. Surprisingly, there's no shortage of storage, either: The Levity 45 comes equipped with an internal hydration sleeve, a large bellowed front pocket, a lid pocket, attachment loops and two small daisy chains on the outside for attaching additional gear with a carabiner or cord. But, the Levity 45 from Osprey is not just incredibly lightweight - it also has quite the attractive design.

A gimmick

Tested on 15 mile hillwalk carrying 5kg - 6 kg if that. Firstly, the back system has eaten my lightweight shirt - this was an initial reservation I had about the osprey back system a long time ago, as it looked to harsh for my lightweight clothes and I have also had issues with other ruck sacks that thankfully I managed to resolve. There needs to be padding around the bottom of the frame or at least it needs smoothing out. I am worried about using it with my expensive and very light waterproof.

I found it extremely uncomfortable. I am not a sponsored user or magazine who are not going to say anything bad - I'm a regular user and this is my true experience - the straps dug into my shoulders and they now hurt. The lack of flexibility to alter sternum strap is just unworkable - its a total nightmare to move them from the one of 3 options.

The tearing up of my clothes is a real issue for me and sadly this is not the bag for me - I expected so much more, not only from the bag but the brand. I think my initial reservations were correct and I can see why I've never used osprey packs since - they don't work with ultra lightweight clothes, it just tears them up and the pack actually felt sturdy it didn't feel like there was even much movement so I'm not sure how this has happened only that the material at a crucial point on the bag is too rough - it needs a mod.

Unfortunately for me a dreadful waste of money! Obviously people need to be made aware of the serious limitations of this system rather than listening to people telling you how fantastic it is because in varying degrees of vocabulary - thats what they always say when they review a product and its just all hype around this one.
