Product description
One of the most popular belay devices for sport climbers - there's a good reason the Smart by Mammut has a huge fan base! The belay device stands out for its easy handling and its quick braking in fall situations, requiring only little effort as long as your braking hand is in the right position. In addition, the Smart is designed to correspond to your natural reflexes (to the body) in panic situations. It requires only little practice for a dynamic belay, thus reducing the impact force and significantly easing falls for the lead climber. The belay device can be used with all common HMS carabiners and with single ropes featuring a diameter of 8.7 to 10.5 mm. Whether indoors or on the rocks - the Smart makes climbing the best of fun.
Note: According to the DAV (German Alpine Club), an auto-block tube is an auto-locking device relying on the right position of the braking hand. Its blocking support works by locking the rope between the carabiner and the device!
