If you’re looking for a safe and versatile belay device, the Giga Jul from Edelrid is perfect. The special thing about this belay device is that it is a standard and assisted-braking tubular belay device all in one. To ensure a safer belay, the Giga Jul offers assisted braking and a high braking performance to assist the belayer when the leader falls. Lowering and paying out rope can be achieved quickly and easily by holding the device in the open position with your thumb. The standard mode has advantages as well, such as allowing for rapid single- and double-strand abseil. You can also use the belay device to belay climbers from above, which can come in very useful on long, alpine routes.

For comfort It does stick / brake very quickly…. It also catches quick when paying out so really needs attention, anticipation for lead climbers comfort

Been using it for a year now. The only weakness that comes to mind is that it struggles with thick ropes. Use 9.5 mm or thinner with this belay device and you should be fine.
