Product description
Offers more security in case of a fall - the Matik by Camp! The half-automatic belay device comes with a supportive brake system that automatically locks when there is a sharp tug on the rope. A gate controls the rope feed or stop with a cam securing the rope inside the safety mechanism. The impact force is therefore quite low and a dynamic protection achieved.
All components of the belay device are made of sturdy, high quality Stainless steel and aluminum. It can be used for ropes with a diameter between 8.6 and 10.2 mm. The Matik also features an anti-panic system: if the lever is pulled too far or fast in a moment of panic, it automatically blocks the rope and closes the device. This provides extra security while climbing.
Another practical feature is that the Matik cannot be clipped to a carabiner if the rope is not sitting properly in the device and it is not fully closed. That means the carabiner eyelet will stay locked if the cam is not in the correct position. This eliminates even more chances of making any mistakes. The Matik is a well thought out belay device for passionate sports climbers - no matter if its inside or outside!

It's a good bit of kit, but there needs to be a few changes to make it more of a finished product.
One - it needs to be a lot lighter, especially for sport/lead climbing.
Two - the sweet sport for lowering a climbing is none existent with light climbers.
Three - self lowering is a pain if you have a ton of rope underneath you. The weight of the rope keeps triggering the anti-panic function.
