Recommended frame size: cm (corresponds to inch)

If the value falls in between two sizes, the following general rules apply:

  • If you want quick and sporty, choose the smaller frame size
  • If you want comfortable and smooth, choose the larger frame size

Note: The recommended frame sizes are guidelines. The ratio of leg length to upper body can vary greatly between individuals!

How to measure your inside leg length

How to measure your inside leg length

To take this measurement you should stand with bare feet, upright with your back against a wall. Hold a spirit level or similar (a book, for example) between your legs. Holding the level with both hands (in front and behind your body), raise it up until it’s snug against your crotch, like you are sitting on a saddle.

The level must stay horizontal while measuring. Your inside leg is the distance between the floor and the upper edge of the level.

Tip: To ensure you get the most accurate result possible, it is useful to get a friend to help.

How to measure the frame size of a bike

It is usually not necessary for you to measure the frame size yourself. Modern bikes are sold with a large amount of information, which should include the exact measurements of the frame. It usually also printed on the frame itself.

How to measure bike frame size

If you have no information about the size of your bike frame, all you need is a good, old-fashioned tape measure and you can measure it yourself. The real question is, how would you prefer to measure the bike, since there are two standards:

  • Center-to-Center (C-C) is the distance from the middle of the bottom bracket, that is where the crankset is attached to the bike, up to the intersection of the seat tube and the top tube
  • Center-to-Top (C-T) is measured from the middle of the bottom bracket, but the upper endpoint is at the top of the seat tube.li>

The measurement you will use depends on which measure is used for the bike, or rather which standard applies to the new bike.

Frame size guide for mountain bikes (MTBs)

Mountain bikes are generally designed to be more comfortable. For this reason, the seating tube – and so also the frame size – is somewhat shorter. Your optimal frame size is independent of the wheel size. Mountain bikes with 26 inch, 27.5 inch and 29 inch wheelsare available in the same frame sizes.

Frame size guide for touring & trek bikes

For trek bikes, comfort is always an important factor. Despite this, the seat tube in these bikes is comparable to that of a road bike. The difference is the bottom bracket, which is positioned lower in comparison to trekking and touring bikes.
