We would like to give you the opportunity to learn more about our "Shop conciously!” search filter. Here, you’ll find a list of search options with explanations and a link to the products in our shop.

The filter names also appear on the product pages over “Shop consciously!”, so you’ll be able to see which sustainable certifications the product has. It also allows you to see which products contain certified down or have a Fairtrade seal.
sustainable labels
Bluesign is a holistic system that strives to change the environmental impact of the textile industry. The label provides safer and more sustainable environments for people to work in and everyone to live in. In addition, taking a holistic approach means they take a close look at every stage of the manufacturing process to make it more sustainable.
The Fairtrade label certifies fair trade conditions in developing countries and is awarded to agricultural products. In addition to the "classic" Fairtrade label, there are other labels that relate specifically to the textile industry: Fairtrade Cotton, Fairtrade Textile Production, the Fairtrade Sourced Ingredients and the Fairtrade Cotton Program.
Fair Trade is not just fair trade. The USA Fair Trade CERTIFIED seal guarantees environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods and safe working conditions in sectors, such as the agriculture, fishing and the clothing industries, and each industry has its own standards. They’ve set up community development funds in the local workers' communities in Africa, Asia, Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean. The funds are democratically administrated by the workers.
The Fair Wear label promotes fair and safe working conditions in the textile industry. They have eight labour standards and some of these include: payment of a living wage, reasonable hours of work and no exploitation of child labour.
Green Shape
Green Shape is Vaude's own label (originator: VAUDE Sports). It ensures that the entire product lifecycle, from the design and manufacturing to use, meets their high sustainability, social and environmental standards.
The Grüne Knopf (Green Button)
The Grüner Knopf (Green Button) is awarded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is intended to make the textile industry more sustainable for people and the environment. Both the products and businesses should comply with a whole array of criteria.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the most widely used labels in the textile industry. It indicates that certified products have been tested for harmful substances in independent laboratory tests.
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® is a label that ensures that both a sustainable process and social responsibility are taken into account. To receive the label, a product must have been tested for harmful substances (certification in accordance to STANDARD 100 or LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX®) and the product must have been manufactured using sustainable processes under socially responsible working conditions (certification according to STeP by OEKO-TEX®).
Responsible Down
The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the animals have not been force-fed and have not been plucked alive to collect their down and feathers. Regular checks ensure that the guidelines are adhered to.
Repreve polyester is made from recycled plastic bottles. During the process, the plastic bottles are washed, shredded and melted down. They are then processed into synthetic fibres to create outdoor apparel, shoes, everyday clothes and much more.
free from ...
and what it means
BPA free
BPA can be found in many everyday items, such as receipts and plastic bottles. The substance can be released when coming into contact with food and will then enter the body. Studies suggest that very high levels of BPA in the body can lead to hormone imbalances. However, such concentrations are hardly ever reached in everyday life.
BPS free
BPS is found in many everyday products, such as receipts and camping utensils. When coming into contact with food, it can dissolve and enter the body. Studies suggest that very high levels of BPS in the body can lead to hormone imbalances.
Mulesing free
Mulesing entails removing the skin from the buttocks of merino sheep without the use of anaesthesia. This procedure is done to prevent the animals from being infested by flies. However, it’s extremely painful. When a product is made of mulesing-free wool, it means that the sheep did not have to go through the widespread and controversial procedure.
PFC free
PFC is often used to waterproof tents, outdoor jackets or backpacks thanks to its dirt and water-repellent properties. However, PFC is not degradable, so it accumulates in the environment. As a result, PFC residues are found all over the world. High PFC concentrations in the human body have been found to cause hormone imbalances. However, the high concentration is hardly ever reached in everyday life.
PVC free
PVC is often used to produce backpacks, bags and even water bottles because it’s durable, UV-resistant and water-repellent. However, since PVC is almost always combined with volatile plasticizers, it will dissolve and can be absorbed into the human body through food. At very high concentrations, research shows that plasticizers can negatively affect the immune system and the nervous system.
