Product description

The SlingFin Hardshell is not just a pricy heavyweight tent - it's the winner of the 2013 OutDoor Industry Award for its excellent, innovative design! The Hardshell has proven itself again and again, serving as mountaineers' expedition tent on the world's highest mountains, including Mount Everest, Broad Peak and Denali.

The patented WebTruss technology

The heart of the Hardshell is the award-winning WebTruss technology. Think of the WebTruss system as a basic structure that is set up first. The Webtruss locks the DAC aluminium poles into place and serves as the skeleton for the rest of the tent and offers very little wind resistance. If the WebTruss is secured with snow anchors, you pull the fly over first and secure it using the robust plastic clips (unlike metal, they cannot freeze in extreme sub-zero temperatures). An additional arched pole helps to prop up the front vestibule, which also serves as an entrance. Once the shelter is up, you can set up the rest of the tent from the inside protected from the elements. The inner tent is simply connected to the WebTruss using the small carabiner clips.

Defy the elements with the HiWind Kit

Depending on how extreme the conditions are, it may be necessary to add some more stability to the Hardshell. This is where the HiWind Kit supplied with the tent comes in. This contains two additional aluminium poles to be set up horizontally, providing more protection from the side. To prevent snow getting underneath the tent in such conditions, there are snow flaps as well.

A tough design for tough expeditions

The Hardshell has a large enough sleeping area for three people to sleep comfortably and enough space for a maximum of four people. There are several mesh pockets on the inside for extra storage. And, to prevent the tent smelling, there is a large vent on the ceiling, giving you the option to hang up and air out wet clothing in the mesh sacks beneath it. The SlingFin Hardshell may be quite expensive, but it's definitely worth it. The Hardshell is an excellent expedition tent that has withstood the harshest of conditions and will do the same for you!
