Product description

Bouldering and indoor climbing are where the Scarpa Veloce really come to the fore. These climbing shoes have been designed to combine comfort and performance to impress during extended training sessions.

In terms of shape, these shoes are reminiscent of trainers but are not as wide. The upper material is both robust and soft and ensures that the shoes can adapt optimally to your personal foot shape. A hook and loop fastener running in a zigzag across the back of the foot also ensures that the shoes always sit securely on the feet, even when hooking, but can also be taken off and put on quickly. Keyword hooks: With these shoes you definitely need to check out the sole and the rubber lining in the heel and toe area. The sole is relatively sensitive and soft and provides good feedback, so that precise positioning is possible even on small steps. In addition, these shoes come with a medium heel tension, which facilitates the transfer of power to the toes, which in turn makes standing on small steps and ledges much easier. Special rubber linings make it possible to set foot or toe hooks much more securely.

Wonderful shoe

I bought these shoes a few months ago and have used it mostly in the gym whilst bouldering, but also whilst sport climbing. These shoes took a week or so to break in, but fit like a glove on my feet and feel like a sock. I've gone 1 size down from my street shoes, and quite honestly, I don't feel like I needed to go any lower. In fact, I wonder if going 1/2 a size down would've sufficed.

Pros: Incredibly comfortable once broken in and the more I use them, the more sensitive they start to feel, which, for me at least, makes climbing in them an absolute joy. They're pretty decent at edging too. Heel hooks and toe-hooks always feel very secure.

Cons: I haven't climbed on rock with these just yet, but I'm not sure I trust the thing strap to not fail if rubbed a lot along sharp rocks. Of course, the chances of this happening for most climbers is pretty minimal, but might be worth noting. I'm also not sure if it's just my technique or if the rubber on this shoe isn't as amazing at smearing as some of the shoes I've tried with the XS Grip/Edge rubber. Don't get me wrong, it's does a pretty good job and it is not far off from those other shoes I mentioned, but sometimes I don't fully trust them when a volume is a bit too steep.

All in all, I'd happily buy this shoe over and over again. Super happy with it.
