The Rapid XT Mid GTX from Scarpa are hard-wearing approach shoes! With a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and an all-round rubber rand, these shoes provide comprehensive protection. Thanks to the raised heel, they perform excellently when moving downhill on scree. Reinforcements on the toes and heels provide extra protection. Meanwhile, the Ortholite insole ensures pleasant walking comfort. These shoes are ideal for technical approaches and easier climbs!

The Scarpa - Rapid XT Mid GTX approach shoe is that rare beast in that it gets absolutely everything right:
Superb durability, even on pavement concrete;
Fantastic wraparound rand;
Superb grippiness even on wet rocks;
The ideal height (i.e. a proper 'mid' boot);
Great support through the whole foot;
Generous mid-width toe box.
I have just ordered the Caribou/Rust Orange, having bought and practically lived in the Shark/Military.
For me, this mid approach shoe has taken over from Salomon's Quest 4 GTX, when they used to be great.
