I have several Scarpa shoes - low and ankle high. Never disappointed in terms of fit and comfort and durability. Never needs “breaking in”.

These are comfortable from first wearing and don't take much breaking in. They feel robust and supportive and the lining makes them warm, even in thin socks. Their biggest benefit is their superb grip on almost any surface (even ice or shiny floors) due to clever, gritty inserts in the soles.
Be warned though: I wore these indoors briefly to break them in. They are fine on carpeted floors, but DO NOT wear them on polished wood or vinyl floors as the gritty inserts will scuff the floor badly. The same goes for driving in them: great grip on the pedals, but they will wear the rubber pedal covers more quickly than conventional soles.
