Why so much polyester?

Adding polyester to this merino hoody is crazy. It means that I can only ever wear it once before it starts to stink! Then because it is made of merino it means that you cant put it on a hot wash so it never really gets clean again. I would happily pay a bit more for it to be 100% merino.
