I bought these boots to replace a aging pair of Scarpa SL Activ, that had worn through the lining at the heel (second pair to do this), causing rubbing and blistering. After buying I found sticking a piece of felt, normally used on furniture to protect wood floors, did a good job of solving the problem. See pics
I use my boots for about 1.5 hours twice a day for dog walking, in ususally wet, muddy, conditions, and wanted a heavy stable boot with a leather lining, to hopefully not wear out in the heel area. Once I had checked the fit was right, I rubbed dubbin into the leather to maximise water resistance, and leather protection. Once the leather would not allow any more to penetrate, ie it was staying on the surface, I started using them but found my socks were damp after a few days, as was the inside of the boots. I believe these boots would not be suitable for wet conditions on a continues basis, but would be fine on paths/trails with stream crossings, but not were they are continually presented with water.
On the plus side, they provide good support, are a good fit, robust, excellent grip on most surfaces, and give a pleasant forward rolling motion to my gait.
So, great boots, good for almost anything, best on paths or trails, will keep your feet dry (with a bit of conditioning ) on wet days, but not prehaps weeks.
