There's no doubting the very robust G1000 cotton, but on a jacket costing this much money, there are two design flaws, that i still cannot comprehend, for a jacket costing this much.
There is no internal chin guard protector on the top metal zip pull, resulting in an extremely cold piece of metal constantly brushing your bare skin, it makes for a very uncomfortable experience in very cold weather, and also the rest of the zip is of the cheapest plastic , the kind you see on very budget waterproofs, not a jacket costing hundreds of pounds.
At least the zip is of the twin pull design, allowing the jacket to be opened from top or bottom, but its not up to the rest of the fjallraven quality, its very disappointing, especially when the fjallraven logo press studs and G1000 material are very high quality items.
My greatest complaint, and probably the most unforgivable design flaw, is that there is no adjustment on the hood, it just goes over your head, offering no protection, and gets blown about quite easily, really its a bit pointless the jacket having a hood, as it offers no protection, and you cannot do anything with it,
Why are there no drawstrings to provide a tighter fit and offer adjustment for added protection from the elements, if the weather dictates it ?, there aren't any, the hood is almost useless, its unforgivable at this price point, and destroys the usability of the jacket.
The G1000 material is superb, very robust, as is the quality of the cut of the material, but fjallraven should think long and hard on improving the all important hood design, and installing a full metal construction zip.
Due to the glaring design flaws on this jacket, i can only give it a 3 star rating, as fjallraven cannot rest on their name, and offer the customer a jacket not really fit for purpose.
