Black Friday is THE big shopping event of the year. Traditionally, Black Friday kicks off the festive season from a consumer point of view. Black Friday is a large-scale discount event organised by (online) retailers. Most of the world's industrialised nations take part in this sales campaign. Black Friday originated in the USA and always takes place on the Friday after the US Thanksgiving. While it was originally only intended for physical retailers, at some stage online retailers also joined in. Meanwhile, Cyber Monday was conceived for online retailers. However, Black Friday continues to play an important role for both types of retailers.

In response to the physical store’s Black Friday, the online world thought, we can do that too! So, various online retailers joined forces and created Cyber Monday to offer customers countless deals.
