Product description

The Alterra Lite Mid GTX walking boot by AKU is a versatile and flexible boot for medium-difficulty hillwalking tours. Its upper is mainly made of leather, but is reinforced with supportive elements so that the shoe delivers solid stability. This gives the ankles in particular more stability, which is very advantageous in stony terrain. Thanks to GORE-TEX, the shoe is completely waterproof and has good breathability, ensuring that the feet stay comfortable and dry.

The special AKU Alterra Lite Tenuta outsole guarantees good grip – even on wet ground. Meanwhile, the EVA midsole combined with the Ortholite footbed provides optimal cushioning. This promotes a dynamic gait. The uncomplicated lacing system allows the fit to be individually adjusted. A reinforced toe section gives extra protection in scree. A real all-rounder for active hikers: this is the Alterra Lite!

Hey Rukia,

the fit is rather wide. As with all hiking shoes, we recommend choosing at least one size bigger than your street shoes.

Best regards,
Max

Lovely boot, pity about the sole

Bought these in August 2020. Used for less than 10 hours on paved paths and already the sole has started to wear down. The heel had a dark rubber compound but that has worn away in parts to a soft light grey compound underneath. I can press the places and it feels as if it's an air pocket not solid. I can't see these lasting another 10 hours before they have worn through.
I have contacted Aku but no response .
I have two other pairs of made in Italy Aku's that have Michelin soles. They have lasted a few years.
I had a pair of Selvaticas that were so uncomfortable I had to send them back. Both pairs of Italian boots are fantastic.
The Alteras and Selvaticas were not made in Italy but the far east and I think they suffer from poor materials. Won't buy another pair unless made in Italy.
